Tekken: Bloodline – Mini Review
Tekken: Bloodline - Mini Review
Is this concurrent with Tekken 2 or 3? It seems like 2, which is my jam. It’s a bit interesting because while there are certain aspects that are meant to be “period correct”… like older cellphone styles, other things are from today’s world, like drone technology.
Seems like predominantly 2D, with some 3D used in their “pipeline”. They’ve preserved the 2D aesthetic, for the most part. They do recycle some 2D frame sequences, however. Much more 2D looking than Kengan Ashua or even Baki. The animation and voices are well done. Fight scenes are tight.
The story sticks to the game’s cannon. But it’s a bit cliche and… obvious. It’s perhaps not that bad, since scripting an interesting and novel story for a fighting anime is probably pretty fucking hard. Very early on they frame it as a battle of morality; good vs. evil. From there, they are able to build on that and include power and weakness, hard vs. soft styles, etc. Mostly typical shit.
